Vietnam joins regional youth media festival

Four Vietnamese young reporters took part in the first-ever regional youth media festival hosted by the non-governmental organisation Plan, which concluded in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 4.

The Vietnamese participants, who camefrom two juvenile reporters’ clubs in central Quang Binh and northernPhu Tho provinces, brought to the festival seven short films, 10pictures, two video clips and one collection of stories about fightingchild physical and metal abuse.

The two-day festival, entitled “Young Hearts: Youth Arts and MediaFestival”, drew the participation of 76 other children aged between 10and 17 from Bangladesh , India , Indonesia , the Philippines andThailand .

The festival displayed children’s communication and art productions,including films, television and radio products, music shows, shortstories and poems.

In addition, the participants had a chance to introduce their nationalcultures as well as share information and opinions on children’s rightsand ways to prevent violence against children.

During seminars, they learnt about how to identify school violence and to tell the truth of this problem.

Plan is a non-governmental organisation working in 66 countries andterritories, including 13 Asian nations, to improve the lives ofdisadvantaged children and ensure children’s rights./.
