Vietnam, Lao news agencies bolster cooperation

The two sides discussed and reviewed the implementation of the 2006-2010 Cooperation Protocol between VNA and KPL.

They also evaluated a 2008-09 cooperation programme between the two news agencies and worked out a plan for 2009-2010.

The two sides committed to bolster the special cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the field of media in the coming time.

In the past, VNA has provided technical facilities to KPL, helped train their reporters and exchanged news and photos.

The two sides agreed that 2010 will be an important year as it willmark the conclusion of the Cooperation Protocol for the 2006-2010period and the preparation of a new Protocol for the 2011-2015 period.

VNA and KPL agreed to continue the annual exchange of high-level visits.

KPL asked VNA to help train its reporters in Hanoi and some other localities in Vietnam to obtain the best results.

To cover the up-coming 25th Southeast Asian Games in Vientiane , VNA will send reporters to Laos to coordinate with KPL.

The two sides also discussed a plan to organise Vietnamese and Laolanguage classes and the publication of a Vietnamese language newspaperin Laos , along with other issues.

The same day, Lao Deputy Minister of Information and Culture BuangeunSaphouvong received VNA Deputy General Director Loi and his entourage./.
