Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia youths enhance cooperation

Sixty prominent young people from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia gathered in Hanoi on December 8 to begin a four-day conference that aims to seek stronger affiliation and greater role for youths in consolidating solidarity among the three countries.

Speaking at theopening ceremony, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho ChiMinh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) Nguyen Dac Vinh, highlighted thetraditional friendship among the three Southeast Asian neighbouringcountries, and called on the young generations to be aware of inheritingand further developing it.

Meanwhile, Head of the CommunistParty of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for External AffairsHoang Binh Quan hailed the conference as a practical activitycontributing to educating young generations about the friendship,special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam, Laosand Cambodia.

This offers a good opportunity for seniorleaders of youth organizations of the three countries to exchangeexperience and learn from respective good cooperation models, Quanadded.

Vilayvong Bouddakham, First Secretary of the CentralCommittee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union and Hun Many,President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), saidthrough the event, young people from the three nations can talk aboutissues of mutual concern and come up with effective measures to fostertheir cooperation.

Participants sought how to step up youthconnection and exchange experience in mobilizing young people to play agreater role in socio-economic development and voluntary communityactivities.

A wide array of activities including meetings,workshops and tours to historical sites and landscapes are planned toeducate the young delegates on the traditional friendship and solidaritybetween people of the three nations.-VNA
