Vietnam, Laos comprehensive cooperation thrives: Lao newspaper

The Pathet Lao newspaper of the Lao news agency KPL on March 4 run an article highlighting the Laos-Vietnam comprehensive cooperation, in celebration of the 60th founding anniversary of the bilateral ties (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and 45 years of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - 2022).

Vientiane (VNA) - The Pathet Lao newspaper of the Lao news agency KPL on March 4 run an article highlighting the Laos-Vietnam comprehensive cooperation, in celebration of the 60th founding anniversary of the bilateral ties (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and 45 years of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - 2022). 

The article wrote that the special cooperation between the two Parties, States and people of the countries across all fields of politics, external relations, education, economy, trade and investment, has been strengthened, benefitting people of Vietnam and Laos. 

Various investment projects of Vietnam in Laos have been carried out and finished. Vietnam’s non-refundable assistance for Laos has been on the rise. Of note, the new Lao National Assembly building is a gift presented by the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

On transportation, Laos and Vietnam are speeding up and seeking investments to carry out transport projects linking the countries. At the same time, progress has been made at the building of Nong Khang international airport in Houaphanh province, northern Laos.

The two countries are implementing a power purchase agreement and earning positive results.

Educational training and human resources development continue receiving due attention and are among the priorities of the two governments. Many Lao students study in Vietnam each year and vice versa, the article continued. 

Cooperation between ministries, departments and sectors, as well as organisations and localities has been bolstered in an effective way in line with the reality via the exchange of delegations, experience sharing and mutual support, among others.

The article concluded that in-depth cooperation has helped strengthen the bilateral relations nurtured by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, becoming a priceless heritage for future generations of the two countries./.
