Dang Ngoc Tung, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour(VGCL) held talks with the President of the Lao Federation of TradeUnions, Khamla Lolonsy, on July 16 in Hanoi.
At thetalks, the two sides informed each other about the socio-economicsituation, worker movement and activities of trade unions in bothcountries.
They stressed that the friendship andcooperation between Vietnam and Laos became the motivator forpromoting worker movement and activities of trade unions in the twocountries.
President Tung asserted the determination tomaintain the traditional friendship and special solidarity between thetrade unions of the two countries.
This year, apart fromorganising the activities agreed by the two sides in their cooperationagreement for the 2008-2012 period, VGCL also plans to carry out otheractivities to respond to the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year2012, Tung said.
Khamla Lolonsy said he believes thathis delegation’s current visit to Vietnam will mark an important stepforward in the ties between the two trade unions, contributing tofurther fostering the traditional friendship and special solidaritybetween the two countries.
He also highlighted supportprovided by the Vietnamese trade union to their Lao counterpart in manyfields such as technical assistance, personnel training andinternational cooperation.
Khamla Lolonsy expressed hishope that bilateral cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao tradeunions will continue to be promoted in the future.
On theoccasion, VGCL awarded the Friendship Order of the Vietnamese State toKhamla Lolonsy for his great contributions to strengthening anddeveloping the Vietnam-Laos friendship and cooperation.-VNA
