Vietnam Military Medical University honoured with Ho Chi Minh Order

Hanoi (VNA) – PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on March 9 presented a Ho Chi Minh Order to theVietnam Military Medical University (VMMU) in recognition of its outstandingperformances in training, scientific research and supplying health care servicesto soldiers and people.
The university received the nobleaward as it is celebrating its 70th founding anniversary (March 10,1949-2019). On the occasion, Party General Secretary and President Nguyen PhuTrong also sent a congratulatory letter to doctors and officers of theuniversity.
Addressing the event, PM Phuclauded the achievements the university’s doctors, nurses, officers and soldiershave reaped in developing the military medical sector, contributing to the greatprogress of the country’s healthcare sector.
The PM noted that doctors trainedby the Vietnam Military Medical University have been present in all areas ofthe country, especially in remote, border and island localities, contributingto the national development and defence. Along with taking care of soldiers andlocal people’s health, they have engaged in socio-economic developmentactivities, he said.
The Government leader requested theuniversity works towards the target of becoming a centre for medical training,research and application in the region and the world.
Initially, the university should turnitself into a major national-level university and a leading military medicaland pharmaceutical centre of the nation with some faculties reaching regionalstandards, he suggested.
The PM asked leaders of theuniversity pay greater attention to training high-quality personnel towards theadvanced training quality of the world, while improving its performance in scientificresearch, and strengthening the application of latest scientific andtechnological advances into check-up and treatment activities.
PM Phuc also stressed the needfor the university to focus on educating ethics for doctors in its trainingprogramme.
He also expressed his belief thatwith the 70-year tradition and experience, the university will continue torenovate and complete all assigned tasks.
Currently, the Vietnam MilitaryMedical University has 18 professors, 106 associate professors and 128 doctors.Over the past 70 years, it has trained nearly 90,000 medical and pharmaceuticalpersonnel. Since 1986, the university has conducted 3,274 scientific researches,including 118 state-level research projects.-VNA
