Vietnam, Nepal to bolster parliamentary ties

Parliamentary leaders of Vietnam and Nepal have agreed to further promote bilateral cooperation and exchange updated information on activities of their respective parliaments, at their meeting in Phnom Penh on November 22.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Parliamentary leaders ofVietnam and Nepal have agreed to further promote bilateral cooperation andexchange updated information on activities of their respective parliaments, attheir meeting in Phnom Penh on November 22.    

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and hisNepalese counterpart Ganesh Prasad Timilsina also shared the wish that bothcountries will enhance collaboration in potential fields.

Hue said that the traditional friendship between the twocountries is an important prerequisite for them to expand cooperation to manyfields and channels, including the parliamentary channel.

He noted that bilateral trade value remains modestcompared to each country’s potential and strength, and suggested establishing ajoint economic-trade committee to improve economic partnership.

The NA Chairman said Vietnam and Nepal should create favourable conditions fortheir enterprises to seek investment and business cooperation opportunities,adding that the two countries have potential for cooperation in agriculture,telecommunication, culture and tourism.

He added that Vietnam is considering Nepal’sproposal on opening a direct air service between the two countries.

Hue took the occasion to invite the Nepalese National Assembly Chairman tovisit Vietnam./.
