Vietnam, Netherlands cultivate practical, effective relations

The Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands organised a ceremony in The Hague on June 26 to mark the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Hague (VNA) – The Vietnamese🃏 Embassy in theNetherlands organised a ceremony in The Hague on June 26 to mark the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Hasaid that over half a century, Vietnam and the Netherlands have become eachother's important and prioritised partners in the region. The two countries' leaders agreed to upgrade the bilateralrelationship to a comprehensive partnership in 2019, which marked an importantmilestone in their 50-year relations as well as the two countries’determination in promoting comprehensive cooperation in key areas, such as climate change, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, circular economy besides their economic, trade and development cooperation.

Ha affirmed that the world is constantly changingwith many intertwined opportunities and challenges, especially issues ofclimate change and food security.

The Deputy PM said that he was pleased to see the two countries have soonshared visions and approaches to effectively form and implement the twoframeworks - the Strategic Partnersh🌺ip on Climate Change Ada♉ptation and WaterManagement and the Strategic Partnership on Sustainable Agriculture and FoodSecurity.

"With its responsibility to the international community, Vietnam is willing tocontinue working closely with the Netherlands to make joint efforts to solvecommon global challenges, especially climate change and foodsecurity, towards the goal of sustainable development," Ha said.

The Deputy PM expressed his belief that theVietnam-Netherlands relationship will be cultivated and developed more practically and effectively in the future. For his part, Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme said that the relationship between thetwo countries has been stable over time because it has been based on affection, friendship,and mutual trust. Recalling his nice impressions and memories during hisvisit to Vietnam a few months ago as a tourist, the Prince said he was happy to seeVietnam’s strong development, adding that he was proud that the Netherlands has manyprogrammes to support the development of the Southeast Asian country. He emphasised that the establishment of the comprehensivepartnership in 2019 came from the need and interests of bothsides, and the Netherlands hoped to further strengthen the bilateral relationswith Vietnam, especially in areas where the Netherlands has strengths such asfood, processing, techniques, and navigation. Appreciating Vietnam's commitment to net zero carbonemissions by 2050, Jaime, who is also the Climate Envoy for the Netherlands, said that Vietnam will achieve the goal and theNetherlands is ready to support Vietnam in green growth areas such assustainable agriculture development, green economy, and smart logistics system, and together solve problems and look towards the future.

Within the framework of activities to celebrate the 50thanniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands, the Vietnamese Embassy, the Ministry ofTransport, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam co-organised aseminar in The Hague on June 26, attracting the participation of nearly 40 Vietnamese and Dutchbusinesspeople. Participants voiced their interest in policies and solutions to promote investment cooperation in thefields of transport infrastructure development, logistics, green energydevelopment, agriculture, and climate change adaptation. Deputy PM Ha introduced Vietnam’s advantages and policiesto attract investors, emphasising that Vietnam is following the world's trends withnew rules relating to environmental issues. Vietnam is implementing the process of digital transformation,green transition, and developing a knowledge-based economy and hi-tech agriculture, he said, adding that thecountry is also focusing on training human resources, considering talents as adriving force for innovation and development. He pointed out five priority areas in the cooperationbetween Vietnam and the Netherlands including climate change adaptation, watermanagement, agriculture, energy, marine economy, and logistics services. The Deputy PM called on Dutch investors with extensiveexperiences, scientific and technological advances, and financial potential toincrease investment in Vietnam./.
