The Palestinian Embassy in Vietnam in conjunction with the Vietnamese Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian People (VCSPP) and the Vietnam-Palestine Friendship Association’s Hanoi chapter held a ceremony on November 29 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Palestine diplomatic ties (November 19).

Hanoi (VNA) – The Palestinian Embassy inVietnam in conjunction with the Vietnamese Committee for Solidarity with thePalestinian People (VCSPP) and the Vietnam-Palestine Friendship Association’sHanoi chapter held a ceremony on November 29 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Palestine diplomatic ties (November 19).
The event also responded to International Day of Solidaritywith the Palestinian People (November 29).
In his remarks, VCSPP President Ho Anh Dung highlighted thetraditional friendship between Vietnamand Palestine, saying the Palestine LiberationOrganisation opened its representative office in Hanoi in 1976.
Right after the State of Palestine was proclaimed onNovember 19, 1988, Vietnam was one of the first countries in the world torecognise its status and elevated the bilateral relationship to the ambassadorlevel, he added.
Dung noted that over the past 30 years, the friendship andlong-standing cooperation between Vietnamand Palestinehave continuously been consolidated and enhanced, as reflected through visitsby leaders of ministries and agencies of the two countries.
Over the past years, the VCSPP has joined hands with the Vietnam-PalestineFriendship Association’s Hanoi chapter and the Palestinian Embassy to organisevarious activities such as film screenings, photo exhibitions, and culture, artand information exchanges, helping intensify mutual understanding, solidarityand friendship between the two countries, he said.
Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama expressed hisdelight at the enhanced bilateral relationship, which, he said, is the prideand valuable asset shared by the two countries.
He thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for theirsupport for Palestine over the past time.
At the ceremony, United Nations Resident Coordinator inVietnam Kamal Malhotra read the message of UN Secretary General AntonioGuterres on the occasion of International Day of Solidarity with thePalestinian People.-VNA
The recognition of the State of Palestine by many countries worldwide and its flag-raising ceremony at the UN headquarters signal a positive sign and initial success of the Palestinian administration.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong on November 19 extended a greeting message to President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas regarding the 30th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations.
