Sydney (VNA) – A programme was heldin Sydney on August 17 to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese land, people andculture to Australians.
The event attracted over 80 businesses operatingin the fields of tourism, hotel and aviation from the two countries.
Deputy head of the Vietnam NationalAdministration of Tourism (VNAT) Ngo Hoai Chung highlighted Vietnam’s tourismadvantages, describing the country as a peaceful destination with rich naturalresources, friendly and hospitable people.
Despite geographical distance, Vietnam andAustralia have enjoyed sound diplomatic ties over the past 44 years, he said,adding that the two countries’ Governments pay great attention to boostingpeople-to-people exchanges.
Vietnam welcomed over 320,000 Australianvisitors in 2016, up 5.6 percent against the previous year, and the figure was 218,000in the first seven months of 2017, a year-on-year increase of 11.4 percent,Chung cited.
Australia is an important market of Vietnam’stourism, and there is much room for the two sides to boost the exchange oftourists, he commented.
At the event, travel companies shared experienceand strategies to draw visitors and seek new partners.
This was one of the three promotion events thatthe VNAT has held in Australia, together with Perth and Melbourne, from August12-19 as part of the national tourism promotion programme 2017 and tourismdevelopment strategy through 2020 with a vision to 2030, which defines Australiaas one of the key markets.-VNA
