Vietnam’s tourism sector targets to serve about 8 million foreign visitors from the total of 110 million next year, according to the General Administration of Vietnam Tourism.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s tourism sectortargets to serve about 8 million foreign visitors from the total of 110 million next year,according to the General Administration of Vietnam Tourism. The country expects to earn about 650 trillion VND (USD27.5 billion)from tourism. Also next year, Vietnam will launch its tourism network planningfrom 2021 to 2030 with a vision to 2045. The sector will implement the Vietnam Tourism MarketingStrategy to 2030, the project "Application of Industry 4.0 technology todevelop smart tourism, turn tourism a a spearhead economic sector", and the project ondeveloping Vietnam's community-based tourism. The administration is planning toorganise the National Conference on Tourism in the first quarter of 2023, aconference to review the 5-year implementation of the Politburo's ResolutionNo. 08-NQ/TW on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector, and aconference on training human resources for tourism. Tourism authorities will participate in internationalevents such as the ASEAN Tourism Forum ATF 2023 in Indonesia, the ITB travelfair in Germany’s Berlin, and the World Travel Market in London. They will also launch communication campaigns on CNN and somemajor international media channels.

The General Statistics Office (GSO) on December 29reported that 707,000 foreign visitors arrived in Vietnam in December 2022, anincrease of 18.5% compared to that of last month. So far this year, Vietnam has welcomed more than 3.36million foreign visitors, 23.3 times higher than that last year. The number of foreign tourists to Vietnam by air accounts for 89.5% while 10.4% came by road, and 0.1% by sea. In 2022, Vietnam’s tourism gradually recovered,especially inside the country. The number of domestic tourists is estimated at over101 million. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 495 trillionVND, 23% higher than planned and 66% higher than that of 2019. Some localities have high tourism revenue in 2022compared to the previous year, including Can Tho (10.3 times higher), Binh Dinh(9.3), Khanh Hoa (8.2), Thua Thien – Hue (8), Da Nang (6.7), Hanoi (4.1), Hai Phong (3.8), and Ho Chi Minh City (1.9)./.
Many localities across the country are making every effort to promote their tourism potential to international markets while stimulating domestic demand in the coming time, with the aim of capitalising on the travel season at the year's end.
The resort city of Da Lat in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong has so far this year welcomed about 140,000 foreign visitors, 25% of them from the Republic of Korea (RoK), according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism on December 26 began the programme “HCM City-100 interesting things” to promote the city as an attractive tourist destination.
The first and only direct service connecting the two countries at the moment is set to operate three times per week using the modern wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

According to Seoul’s Tourism Industry Department, approximately 20,000 Vietnamese visitors travel to the city each year for medical treatment. Vietnam consistently ranks among the top 10 countries with the highest number of medical tourists to Seoul.
An analysis of accommodation search data based on check-in dates for June and July revealed that Nha Trang surpassed all other destinations in popularity among Korean users.
The programme is organised by the Khanh Hoa provincial Youth Union and the “Khanh Hoa people speak English” Project, and aims to promote the culture, history, cuisine and other tourism products of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa to international visitors.
VNAT Director General Nguyen Trung Khanh called visa a golden ticket to pulling in crowds, but he is clear that it needs coordinated efforts across multiple sectors to keep the momentum going in this fast-moving global travel scene.

Hanoi has directed lodging providers and tourist destinations to bolster preparations in staffing, service quality, security, and sanitation. Community-based lodging platforms such as Airbnb are also being promoted strongly to expand housing supply during the holiday period.
