Vietnam continues to cooperate with Thailand in promoting theimplementation of ASEAN’s goals in building a strong ASEAN community forpeople in the region, said Vice Chairwoman of the National AssemblyTong Thi Phong.
She also affirmed the country’s priority inincreasing friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Thailandwhile meeting with Pikulkeaw Krairiksh, Head of the Thai Senate’sForeign Affairs Committee, in Hanoi on August 20.
ViceChairwoman Phong expressed her pleasure at the development of the twolegislative bodies’ cooperation, saying that they exchanged regularvisits of delegations in order to further strengthen cooperation betweenthe two national assemblies and contribute to the two countries’ ties.
Shehailed Thailand’s success in hosting the 30 th session of the ASEANInter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-30), hoping that the Thai parliamentwould share its experience and support the Vietnamese National Assemblyto organise the next AIPA meeting in Hanoi and increase cooperation withVietnam at multilateral forums.
The Vice Chairwoman asked thetwo legislative bodies to continue to support and promote economiccooperation, trade and investment, thus contributing to the developmentof Vietnam-Thailand relations.
She took this opportunity toconvey NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong’s invitation to the speakers of theThai Senate and Lower House to attend the AIPA-31 scheduled for Hanoiin September.
Pikulkeaw Krairiksh expressed her admiration atVietnam ’s rapid dynamic development, stressing solidarity andconsensus were the great driving force of national construction anddevelopment.
She emphasised the need to boost exchange programmesand cooperation between the two legislative bodies and said hercommittee would spare no effort to make contributions to promotingrelations between the two parliaments and two countries./.
