Vietnam treasures all-around cooperation with Russia: official

Hanoi (VNA) - Deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Nguyen ThiHoang Van has stated that the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party and State is to attachgreat importance to strengthening multifaceted relations with Russia, andpromoting cooperation on the Party, State and people channels.
The Vietnamese official made the affirmation when addressing a conferencethemed “Two centuries of friendship, two decades of strategic partnership”virtually hosted by the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg on December 15.
Vietnam and Russia issueda joint statement on the vision of their comprehensivestrategic partnership by 2030 on the occasion of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Russiarecently, she said, noting that the statement demonstrates determinationof the high-ranking leaders in further expanding the Vietnam – Russia strategiccooperation to lay a foundation for closer cooperation betweenthe two countries.
Presentations at the event spotlighted fruitful development of the Vietnam – Russia relationship in all areas of politics, economy, trade, investment,security - defence, and education – training since the two sides set up the strategicpartnership in 2001 and the comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012.
Exchange ofdelegations and meetings at all levels, especially high-level, between thetwo countries have been maintained regularly, while the economic and trade cooperationhas developed dynamically.
The defence-security ties have been promoted, playing a pivotal role in the bilateralrelations.
Cooperation ineducation, culture and tourism, partnership between localities, andpeople-to-people exchange have been flourishing, contributingto strengthening understanding and friendship between the two countries’ people.
At the event, delegatesdiscussed and agreed on a number of programmes and activities to celebrate the10th signing anniversary of the Declaration on the Vietnam-Russia comprehensivestrategic partnership in 2022./. PV
