Vietnam treasures cooperation with Oregon state: President

Hanoi (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception forGovernor of Oregon state Kate Brown in Hanoi on November 14, during which he affirmedthat Vietnam attaches importance to its cooperation with Oregon – the US’s leadingeconomic, industrial and technological hub.
Affirming that Vietnam considers the US a leading importantpartner with two-way trade reaching nearly 120 billion USD last year, PresidentPhuc appreciated the attention that Oregon’s leaders and the governor herself pay to promoting relations with Vietnam.
Brown said that Vietnam is a potential market of Oregon, hoping that therewill be more opportunities to expand the exchange of goods between the twosides.

She spoke highly of the state’s cooperation with Vietnam andVietnamese partners in search and rescue and emergency circumstances, adding thatthe cooperation is growing more essential in the context of complicatedly developingclimate change.
In the time to come, Oregon will promote partnerships in theeducation sector, especially in semiconductor technology, enable students toaccess educational and training programmes and develop manufacturing industriesin Vietnam; and hope to intensify collaboration with the Southeast Asian nationin energy.
Welcoming the guest’s cooperation proposals, President Phucsaid that there remains ample room for bilateral collaboration. He affirmedVietnam is willing to facilitate the state’s investment, and asked itsenterprises to help train high-quality human resources for Vietnam.
Emphasising severe impacts of climate change on Vietnam,particularly rising sea level, the State leader proposed Oregon share experienceand provide technical and financial assistance for Vietnam in climate changeresponse and sustainable and environmentally-friendly development, and boostcooperation in green technology, hi-tech agriculture, culture, tourism andpeople-to-people exchanges./.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen led a delegation to the US to strengthen investment, trade and tourism promotion activities and seek more US business partners.
