Hanoi (VNA) –After returning from a 10-daytraining camp in Japan on September 10, the Vietnamese U19 men’s football teamworked up a sweat in Hanoi as they are preparing for an upcoming friendlytournament in Qatar.
The teamwill train in Hanoi for three days, before flying to Qatar on September 14 tocompete in a tournament from September 16-22, where they will play the U19s ofQatar, Uruguay and the Ivory Coast.
Head coachHoang Anh Tuan said the friendly tournament is an opportunity for the VietnamU19s to gain more experience by facing strong teams and will prepare them forthe 2018 AFC U19 Championship finals.
The 2018 AFCU19 Championship finals are set to get underway from October 18 to November 4in Indonesia, featuring 16 teams. Vietnam’s U19 squad is in Group C withAustralia, the Republic of Korea and Jordan.
The top fourteams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, scheduledto take place in Poland next year.-VNA
