Vietnam, UAE enhance cooperation in sci-tech research

Hanoi (VNA) – A working delegation led by Assoc. Prof.😼 Dr. Pham Van Linh, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and Vice Chairman of the Scientific Council of Cen👍tral Party Agencies, paid a working trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 1-7.

The visit aimed to foster experience exchanges in service of policymaking, digital transformation, and innovation, ultimately improving the quality of scientific research and consultation at central party agencies. The delegation engaged in a series of working sessions with major UAE establishments, including the United Arab Emirates University, the Khalifa University of Science and Technology, the TRENDS Research and Advisory, the Museum of the Future, and several sci-tech organisations under the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
The hosts shared their country's remarkable achievements and experiences in scientific research and innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence, large-scale data systems, and human resources. They highlighted the importance of quality human resources in major research establishments and universities, and discussed mechanisms and policies for transferring and applying research results to socio-economic development. The sessions also covered strategies for supporting startup formation and development, as well as deploying sci-tech projects. The UAE side proposed several initiatives to increase information sharing, and hold joint seminars, and scientific activities between the two countries.
Within the framework of the trip, the delegation visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy on the UAE. Economic cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE is flourishing, with two-way trade estimated at nearly 4 billion USD in the first seven months of this year, marking a 47% annual increase. Both nations are committed to further promoting comprehensive cooperation across economy, trade, investment, innovation, renewable energy, logistics, technology, tourism, and agriculture. Notably, they are determined to elevate their bilateral relations and swiftly conclude negotiations to sign the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)./.

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
