London (VNA) – The Vietnam-UK Network convened its third Congressin London, the UK on September 5.
The Congress elected a new executive board with 21 members, with Ben Chapman re-electedas chairman.
At the event, Chapman detailed the network’s activities across politics, trade,culture, education and charity in the past year, with significant contributionsmade to promoting friendship between the two nations.
The network plans to increase exchanges between women’s organisations and youthorganisations from both countries, he told a Vietnam News Agency correspondent.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Van Thao lauded efforts madeby the network in helping British people understand Vietnam and connecting UKorganisations and individuals with Vietnamese partners.
In the past three years, bilateral trade grew 30 percent to 5.6 billion USD,while some 12,000 Vietnamese people study in the UK.
Thenumber of UK tourists to Vietnam rose 25 percent to 250,000 travellers in 2016from 200,000 in 2014 and the figure is estimated to hit 300,000 in 2017.
The development in bilateral relations has been partly spurred by theVietnam-UK network.
The Vietnam-UK Network is a group bringing together organisations andindividuals with shared interests in Vietnam to promote Vietnam-UK cooperationto enhance understanding and friendship between the citizens and institutionsof the two countries.
The Network was launched on January 22, 2013 during the historic visit of PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the UK. It has enjoyed support from theVietnamese Embassy in the UK and British and Vietnamese businesses.-VNA
The Vietnam-UK Network has contributed significantly to stimulating the strategic partnership between the two countries, said Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Van Thao.
Vietnamese Consul General in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai highlighted the growing demand for Vietnamese workers in Kyushu, especially in Fukuoka, Oita, and Saga prefectures. Currently, the region employs about 35,000 Vietnamese manual workers and over 5,000 IT engineers.
In Vietnam’s case, she said, President Ho Chi Minh demonstrated his strategic vision by founding the revolutionary press a century ago. The late leader understood the press's role not only as a means to reflect the country’s realities but also as a powerful tool to strengthen national unity and inspire the resistance wars and national construction process.

Today, the press for foreign service has evolved into a distinct, irreplaceable force, bridging Vietnam with the world and portraying a nation that is stable, peace-loving, and fully integrated into the international community.
At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
