Vietnam and the state of Oregon in the US will cooperate indisaster response, humanitarian aid, and search and rescue activities.
An agreement to this effect was signed between theNational Committee for Search and Rescue of Vietnam and the state ofOregon in Hanoi on November 27.
During thediscussions, the Vietnamese side proposed aspects of cooperation for2013, especially the study of US disaster management, emergencyresponse and search and rescue, as well as cooperating with Oregondirectly on issues of training for Vietnamese staff and improving theirEnglish skills.
Additionally, the Vietnamese side asked toshare information, technology and experience in disaster warning andforecasting, humanitarian aid and search and rescue.
Thetwo sides expressed their wish that in the future, they will achievepositive results in their cooperation to mitigate losses caused bydisasters.-VNA
