Hanoi (VNA) – The sixth deputy foreign ministerial-level politicalconsultation between Vietnam and Venezuela took place in Hanoi on December 14,under the co-chair of Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Ba Hung and his Venezuelancounterpart, Felix Plasencia.
At theevent, the two sides informed each other about their current domestic affairsand discussed future cooperation.
They agreedto continue working closely together in implementing joint projects andcommitments reached by their senior leaders, particularly in the sectors ofagriculture, energy and trade.
Thediplomats also stressed the need to maintain activities of the inter-governmentcommittee and political consultations between the two Ministries of ForeignAffairs.
Thecompletion of legal frameworks for bilateral cooperation and further supportfor the formation of partnerships between Vietnamese and Venezuelan businesses werealso tabled at the function.
The two sidesalso exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern.
Later on thesame day, Felix Plasencia was received by Foreign Minister and Deputy PrimeMinister Pham Binh Minh, who was pleased with the outcome of the consultation.
While hailingthe positive progress recorded in bilateral collaboration, Minh stated thatVietnam highly values the enhancement of trade-investment ties with Venezuela,particularly in agro-fishery, gas & oil, as well as in the production ofconsumer goods and construction materials.
He proposedthe two countries support each other at multilateral forums and ininternational organisations such as the UN and the Forum for East Asia-LatinAmerica Cooperation (FEALAC).
Havingpraised Vietnam’s reform achievements and improved position at the global arena,Felix Plasencia said his country considers Vietnam a top partner in Asia andwelcomes Vietnamese-invested projects in Venezuela.
Duringtheir visit to Vietnam from December 13-15, the Venezuelan diplomats hadseparate meetings with Hoang Binh Quan, Head ofthe Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, and DeputyMinister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh.-VNA
Venezuela and Vietnam are looking to build a strategic alliance in energy via cooperation with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group in order to ensure each country’s energy security.
