Vietnam working with foreign authorities to restore air links
Under the direction of the Prime Minister, ministries and agencies are actively working with foreign counterparts on the restoration of air transport links between Vietnam and a number of countries and territories, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang has said.

Hanoi (VNA) - Under the direction of the Prime Minister, ministries andagencies are actively working with foreign counterparts on the restoration of airtransport links between Vietnam and a number of countries and territories, ForeignMinistry Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang has said.
She made the statement at the ministry’s regular press conference on July 16 inanswering questions regarding the resumption of overseas flights in the contextof COVID-19 being largely controlled in Vietnam.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she said, has informed a number of foreign agenciesin Vietnam about plans to resume flights to Seoul (Republic of Korea), Tokyo (Japan),Taiwan (China), Guangzhou (China), Vientiane (Laos), and Phnom Penh (Cambodia) frommid-July, on the basis of ensuring compliance with prevention measures toensure the coronavirus does not spread in the community.
The Ministry of Transport is also holding discussions with relevant agencies inthese countries and territories to reach consensus on flight and route specifics,Hang added.
In the immediate future, Vietnam will prioritise people currently allowed to enterthe country, including Vietnamese citizens, foreign experts, investors, businessmanagers, and skilled workers, those entering for diplomatic and official purposes,and a number of other special cases, she said.
People who enter Vietnam must comply with medical quarantine rules and undergo appropriatequarantine measures in line with regulations./.
The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on June 18 agreed to recommend the Government consider the restoration of a number of international flights to several countries and territories that have basically controlled the pandemic and have multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam.
The Ministry of Transport will consider the reopening of international flight routes to countries and territories which have no new cases of COVID-19 in the community for 30 consecutive days, according to a ministry official.
The Ministry of Transport has proposed the Prime Minister allow the resumption of commercial flights between Vietnam and certain other countries in August.
