Hanoi (VNA) – The action movie “Hai Phuong” (Furie)starring Ngo Thanh Van has won acclaim from audiences and international movieexperts.

IMDb, the world's most popular source for movie, TV and celebrity contentreviews, rated the film 8.4/10.  

“Hai Phuong” will hit the US screens on March 1 after its premiere in Vietnamon February 22 with English sub-titles.

Directed by Le Van Kiet, it tells the story of a woman from the Mekong Deltawhose daughter has been kidnapped. She embarks on a journey to find her againstall odds.

Ngo Thanh Van, also known as Veronica Ngo,starred in and produced the film as part of her efforts to introduce Vietnamesecinema to the world.

Van is best known for a brief role in theHollywood film “The Last Jedi”. She has also starred in “The Rebel”, “Clash” and “TheTailor”.

“Hai Phuong” is likely to be Van’s last actionfilm. At the age of 40, Van said she is tired of action scenes and wants togive a chance for younger actors to shine.

The movie will also compete for the GrandPrix and Most Promising Talent Award in the Osaka Asian Film Festival nextmonth.-VNA
