Vietnamese Ambassador pays respects to former US President George H.W.Bush
Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc, on behalf of the Government of Vietnam, paid last respects to former US President George H.W. Bush, in the Capitol Rotunda, on December 3 (local time).

Washington DC (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador tothe US Ha Kim Ngoc, on behalf of the Government of Vietnam, paid last respectsto former US President George H.W. Bush, in the Capitol Rotunda, Washington DC,on December 3 (local time).
Also on December 3, the diplomat visited the US Departmentof State to leave a note on the condolence book for Bush.
He wrote that the Vietnamese Government and people are in griefover the passing of the 41st US President. He extended theVietnamese Government and people’s deepest condolence to the US Government andpeople, particularly to Bush’s family.
The diplomat also praised the former President’s long-termstrategic vision and strong leadership, which had helped to lay a firmfoundation for the normalization of the two countries’ relations and laterfriendship and cooperation. Vietnamese people always remember Bush’s visit to Vietnamin 1995 after the two countries established their diplomatic relations, hewrote.
George H.W. Bush died at his house in Houston on November 30.He was 94 years old.-VNA
The Vietnam-US relationship has come a long way in benefiting the two peoples since its normalisation in 1995.
The official US visit from July 6-10 by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong including talks with US President Barack Obama is seen as a “historic milestone” and a “higher stepladder” in the bilateral comprehensive partnership established in 2013.

The programme to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has achieved notable results, with nearly 263,000 housing units addressed to date, including 225,000 houses inaugurated and 38,000 under construction. Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
