Vietnamese Ambassador to Cyprus presents credentials

Ambassador to Italy and the Republic of Cyprus Cao Chinh Thien suggested the Vietnamese and Cyprus Governments soon negotiate the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on matters regarding Vietnamese labourers in the island country.

Hanoi (VNA) – Ambassador to Italy and the Republic of Cyprus Cao ChinhThien suggested the Vietnamese and Cyprus Governments soon negotiate thesigning of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on matters regarding Vietnameselabourers in the island country.

Theagreement is expected to ensure legitimate rights and interests of Vietnameselabourers in line with law and help them equally integrate into the hostsociety.

Theambassador made the proposal at a meeting with Cyprus President NicosAnastasiasdes following his presentation of credentials to the leader inNicosia on November 29.

Thieninformed his host about achievements Vietnam has recorded in socio-economicdevelopment and international integration recently as well as the country’stargets and development strategies in the time ahead.

Stressingthe fruitful political ties between the two countries, the diplomat noted hiswish that their all-round cooperation will further develop in the coming time.

Forhis part, President Nicos Anastasiasdes expressed his delight at Vietnam’s attainmentsas well as developments of the traditional friendship and multi-facetedcollaboration between the two countries over the past four decades.

Hepromised that competent Cyprus agencies will do their utmost to help theambassador and the Vietnamese Honorary Consul in Lemassos city successfullyimplement bilateral cooperation plans.

Vietnamand Cyprus signed an agreement on visas exemption for diplomatic and officialpassport holders in September 2015.

Thetwo Governments are accelerating the signing of an agreement on political consultationand the above-said MoU.

Vietnamand Cyprus established diplomatic ties on December 1, 1975. The bilateralrelationship has developed continuously through the exchange of delegations andmutual support for relevant issues as well as at international forums.-VNA
