Mexico City (VNA)💛 – Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My and his entourage on October 17 visited the National Institute for Higher Security Studies (IAESEN) of Venezuela, as part of activities celebrating the 35th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries (1989-2024).

Welcoming the diplomat and his entourage, IAESEN Director Lieutenant General Rafael Zerpa Zambrano shared his good impressions about Vietnam during his working visit to the Southeast Asian country in May, and expressed his admiration for the great achievements that the Vietnamese army and people have made in the past struggle for national liberation, and national construction and development at present. Speaking to students at the IAESEN, Ambassador My reviewed the history and development of the Vietnamese revolution. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), Vietnam has implemented the renewal procsess, obtaining great achievements.
Regarding Vietnam’s foreign policy, the diplomat emphasised that Vietnam has consistently implemented the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralisation of international relations; proactively and actively engaging in international integration; and being a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community. Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with all 193 member states of the United Nations, including official diplomatic relations with all 35 countries in America.
On defence policy, My said that Vietnam has built its defence strength based on the combined strength of the great national unity bloc, under the leadership of the CPV; and consistently pursued resolving all disputes and disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of international law. In addition, Vietnam is consistently deploying a “four no’s” defence policy: not joining military alliances, not associating with one country against another, not allowing foreign countries to set up military bases or use Vietnamese territory to oppose other countries, and not using force or threatening to use force in international relations. On this occasion, the diplomat answered questions of IAESEN students, helping them better understand the situation in Vietnam, its renewal process, foreign policy, defence policy, as well as the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela./.
