Vietnamese, Angolan Parties foster relations

HCM City (VNA) – Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, hosted a delegation from the ruling People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) in Ho Chi Minh City on April 29.

The MPLA delegation, led by Politburo member Jorge Inocencio Dombolo, is in Vietnam for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975–2025).

Tu described the attendance of friendly and brotherly political parties from all around the world, especially from distant African countries, as a source of joy, encouragement, and motivation for the Vietnamese Party, State, and people during this celebration.

The visit by the MPLA delegation marks the first high-level delegation exchange of 2025, the year that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Angola, he continued.

Tu emphasised the traditional friendship between the two countries and congratulated Angola on its remarkable achievements in ensuring political stability, economic reform, and social development under the leadership of the MPLA.

The Communist Party of Vietnam stands ready to work with the MPLA to strengthen political trust, reinforce the close friendship, and promote the bilateral relationship comprehensively across various potential areas in the time ahead, the official noted.

In reply, Jorge Dombolo affirmed that in its foreign policy, Angola highly values the traditional friendship between the two Parties and the two countries, and wishes to work with Vietnam to deepen the bilateral relationship, achieving concrete results that live up to the expectations of the leaders and people of both nations.

The two sides agreed to encourage relevant agencies to coordinate in organising political-diplomatic, economic, trade, and cultural activities on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations (November 12, 2025).

Recognising the Vietnamese community in Angola as an important bridge for enhancing mutual understanding and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, the MPLA affirmed that it would recommend local authorities continue creating favorable conditions for them to live and work there and contribute the host country’s development./.
