Hanoi(VNA) – Young Vietnamese and Cambodian officers joined a seminar and exchangeprogramme held in Hanoi on September 29.
Lieutenant ColonelTran Viet Nang, deputy head of the Military Youth Board under the General Departmentof Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army led the Vietnamese delegation, whileColonel Thoy Vanhan from Brigade 70 headed the Cambodian team.
Addressing theprogramme, Nang underscored that the Vietnam-Cambodia defence cooperation hasseen strong growth and continued to be an important pillar in the relationshipbetween the two countries.
Throughout thehistory, young military officers of the two sides have made significantcontributions to the national construction and defence in each country, hesaid, expressing his belief that the visit by the Cambodian delegation willhelp deepen the traditional friendship and solidarity as well as comprehensivecooperation between the two countries and militaries.
Thoy Banhan thankedthe Military Youth Board of Vietnam for hosting and supporting the Cambodiandelegation to visit some units of the Vietnam People’s Army. He said he hopesyoung military officers of the two countries will have more chances for such anexchange in the future.
At the event, the twohead delegates briefed participants on the situation of young officers of eachside. They agreed that the young officers are major and direct forces in theimplementation of political tasks, those who inherit and promote the glorioustradition of the military of each country during the past struggle for nationalliberation and current national construction.
The two sidesconcurred to strengthen education and popularization among young officers onthe significance of fostering friendship, solidarity and cooperation betweenthe two countries and militaries in the new situation as well as foiling allschemes to separate the two nations.
They asked the youngofficers to give proposals for stronger collaboration between the twomilitaries in personnel training and other activities.
Both sides should workclosely together in searching and repatriating remains of Vietnamese martyrsand experts died when performing international missions in Cambodia, whilesupporting each other at international and regional forums, they said.-VNA
