Vietnamese chess player grabs blitz silver at Dubai Open

Vietnamese Grandmaster Le Quang Liem secured a silver medal at the Dubai Open chess tournament’s blitz event on April 6 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese Grandmaster LeQuang Liem secured a silver medal at the Dubai Open chess tournament’s blitzevent on April 6 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The former world champion scored 7.5 pointsafter nine matches. His result was on par with winner Mchedlishvili Mikheil ofGeorgia but Mikheil took the trophy after a tiebreak.

The Vietnamese No 1 player pocketed 17 pointsfor his ELO rating and 800 USD.

Players will back to the standard tournamentafter one day off following the blitz.

Liem is currently in eighth place after sixmatches. He will play Malaysian Yeoh Li Tian in the next round.-VNA
