Vietnamese, Chinese provinces hold joint border patrol

They patrolled the border from Marker No 2 to Marker No 3 alongthe Vietnam-China borderline and exchanged information about people’s activities alongthe borderline.
Their inspection found that the border system and landmarks are maintained properly, and people in the border areas strictly abide by the Agreement on Border Management Regulations. Political security and social order and safety on both sides are also ensured.
🍌 At the end of the patrol, the two sides drew experience, and agreed on the time and content for the next joint patrol.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the bordermanagement forces of the two sides have regularly exchanged information and strengthened border area managementand disease prevention and control. The two sides closely coordinated in handling and preventingillegal activities such as illegal entry and exit, cross-border drugtrafficking, or smuggling. Vietnam and China share a border of almost 1,450 km, including1,065.6 km on land and 383.9 km over water. It traverses seven Vietnameseprovinces - Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Lang Son, andQuang Ninh - and China’s Yunnan province and Guangxi Zhuang AutonomousRegion./.
Border management is a bright spot in the Vietnam-Laos cooperation, Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu said, pointing to important advantages in the work, which are the completion of border demarcation and border marker planting.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Border Guard High Command in Hanoi on December 18, hailing the force’s achievements which have contributed to Vietnam’s successes in 2022.
A high-level delegation from the northeastern border province of Quang Ninh’s Mong Cai city on December 21 held a virtual meeting with authorities of Dongxing city in China's Guangxi province, discussing bilateral collaboration across fields in the time to come.
The Chinese side has announced that it will completely resume the operation of border gates and paths with Vietnam in northern Lao Cai province from January 8, said Ha Duc Thuan, Vice Director of the Management Board of Lao Cai Economic Zone.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel is closely coordinating with relevant local agencies to stay informed and provide the utmost support possible for Vietnamese nationals.
