Vietnamese in Bali supported to leave volcano Agung area
The Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia has instructed some 60 Vietnamese citizens stuck in the Indonesian island of Bali to leave dangerous areas near Mount Agung, due to volcanic eruption.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia hasinstructed some 60 Vietnamese citizens stuck in the Indonesian island of Bali toleave dangerous areas near Mount Agung, due to volcanic eruption, stated the ForeignMinistry’s Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang.
At the ministry’s regular press conference on November 30, Hang saidthat after receiving the warning from Indonesian authorities of the eruption ofvolcano Agung, the embassy has updated information from the media and the Internet,while setting up a hotline to receive and respond to requests from Vietnamesecitizens and tourists in Bali.
The embassy has also asked for locals’ support in the work.
Currently, the Government of Indonesia has downgraded the warning from“red” to “orange”, the third out of total four alert levels. The internationalairport in Bali has also been re-opened, allowing some airlines to resumeoperation in the area.
However, due to developments of Mount Agung, the embassy will continuekeep a close watch on the situation. It recommended Vietnamese tourists not tovisit Bali until the Indonesian Government downgrades the alert level.
The embassy has alsoassigned officials to operate the hotline and make plans to send officials andvehicles to assist the Vietnamese citizens in Bali in case the volcano re-erupts.
According to estimations of the Bali hotel association, about 800-1,200Vietnamese tourists visit the island each month.-VNA
The Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia has issued travel warning for Vietnamese tourists with intention to visit resort island of Bali as Indonesian authority has raised the alert for Mount Agung eruption to the highest level.
Twenty four Vietnamese, mostly tourists, remain stranded on the Indonesian island of Bali as volcanic ash from Mount Agung prompted the closure of Ngurah Rai International Airport, the island’s main airport.
At least 445 flights had been cancelled as of November 28 due to volcanic eruption of Mount Agung, affecting more than 90,000 passengers to and from Ngurah Rai International Airport in Indonesia’s Bali resort island, a top holiday destination that attracts millions of foreign tourists every year.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia has received requests for support from around 50 Vietnamese tourists who are stuck in Bali, Indonesia, due to volcanic eruption, of whom 30 have left Bali safely by land.
