Vietnamese vocational training sector hailed

Vietnam’s achievements at the ninth ASEAN Skill Competition have contributed to improving the position of the Vietnamese vocational training sector in the ASEAN region.
Vietnam’s achievements at the ninth ASEAN Skill Competition havecontributed to improving the position of the Vietnamese vocationaltraining sector in the ASEAN region, against the backdrop of thecountry’s lack of high-quality workers.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh made the remark at a ceremony inHanoi on March 23 to review the competition, which was held inIndonesia from November 11-20.

The Vietnamese team bagged 5 golds, 6 silvers and 11 bronzes at the competition, second only to the host.

The performance reflected the enormous efforts to adopt a new teachingmethod in order to produce a contingent of young and highly-skilledworkers, therefore helping meet national demand during the globalintegration process, said Ninh.

He asked ministriesand departments to work with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids andSocial Affairs to develop human resources and actively take part invocational skill competitions at national, regional and global levels.

The 42nd World Skills Contest is planned for July, 2013, in Germany.

Vietnam is now working to host the 10th ASEAN Skill Competition in 2014.-VNA
