Vietnamese who once lived in Bulgaria hailed

Hanoi (VNA) - Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria RosenDimitrov Jeliazkov met Vietnamese people who used to learn or work in theEuropean country in Hanoi on January 7 evening within the framework of hisofficial visit to Vietnam.

There are around30,000 Vietnamese people who studied and worked in Bulgaria in the 1950-1980period, and about 1,000 at present.

In the process of promoting cooperationbetween the two countries, these people are important factors ensuring thesuccess of bilateral collaboration, he stated, expressing his hope that thiscommunity will bring their affection, knowledge, and experience from studyingand working in Bulgaria to further tighten the Bulgaria-Vietnam friendship andcooperation.

Bulgaria, as a member of the European Union(EU), and Vietnam, a dynamic member of the Association of Southeast AsianNations (ASEAN), have huge potential for cooperation in the fields ofeconomics, culture and education. Bulgaria can be a gateway for Vietnam toapproach the European market and vice versa, and the latter a bridge for theformer to access the ASEAN market, stressed the speaker.
