Vietnamese workers' average monthly income rises by 7.4% in H1
The average income of Vietnamese workers in the first half of 2024 was 7.5 million VND (nearly 300 USD) per month, up 7.4% or 519,000 VND compared to the same period last year, said Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan.
Hanoi (VNA) – The average income of Vietnamese workers in the first half of 2024 was 7.5 million VND (nearly 300 USD) per month, up 7.4% or 519,000 VND compared to the same period last year, said Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan.
Speaking at the ministry’s press conference on July 30, Hoan said that in the first half, the ministry proposed the Government issue Decree No. 75/2024/ND-CP on adjusting monthly pensions, social insurance benefits and allowances.
He said during the period, the development of social insurance and unemployment insurance participants was promoted. The number of social insurance participants by the end of June 2024 was about 18.3 million, accounting for 39.05% of the working-age workforce, an increase of 1.16 million over the same period last year. Meanwhile, there were 14.2 million unemployment insurance participants, up 1.67% year-on-year.
As many as 466,000 people received unemployment benefits in H1, a decrease of 10.1% over the same period last year.
Hoan said that the ministry also continued to implement resolutions and directives on salary reform, building harmonious, stable and progressive labour relations.
𒅌 The ministry effectively implemented policies for revolutionary contributors. The standard preferential allowance for revolutionary contributors increased by 35.7% from 2.055 million VND to 2.789 million VND./.
A salary policy reform is scheduled to be implemented from July 1, with the average salary of officials, civil servants and public employees expected to increase by about 30%, including basic salary and allowances.
The 15th National Assembly is scheduled to approve a salary reform policy in its ongoing sixth plenary session which will hold historical significance and bring about joy for officials and public servants, according to Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra.
