Vietnam’s charm captured in Berlin photo exhibition

Berlin (VNA)🌠 - A photo exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam–Germany diplomatic relations is underway at the Gardens of the World in central Berlin.
Jointly organised by Vietnam’s Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition and the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, the event showcases 50 photographs of Vietnam’s people, culture, and landscapes by Vietnamese photographers and German artist Götz Peter Reichelt. The photos are displayed in the shape of the letters “V-N,” representing Vietnam.
Reichelt, who gifted over 1,200 film negatives of Vietnam from the 1990s to the Vietnamese Government in 2019, has contributed several works to this collection. These images capture a period of transformation in Vietnam, shortly after Doi Moi (renewal) and around the time of German reunification.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition Ngo Tuan Phong, the exhibition offers an authentic, vivid portrayal of a developing Vietnam entering a new era. He expressed his hope that the event would enhance cultural ties between the two countries and help German audiences, including the Vietnamese community, better understand Vietnam.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh praised the artistic and emotional quality of the works, highlighting the historical significance of combining perspectives from both nations.
In celebration of the dual milestones, 50 years of Vietnam–Germany relations, 80 years of Vietnam’s independence, and 35 years of German reunification, the Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has donated the entire exhibit to the embassy for continued display in upcoming cultural and diplomatic events./.
The Berlin exhibition presents a chronological narrative of the war through the eyes of artists and photographers who lived through or deeply studied the war. The works capture the anguish, iron will, and resilience of a nation under siege, from the early days of revolutionary movement to the great victory on April 30, 1975.
Alongside the restoration of traditional performance spaces in original Quan ho villages and the establishment of numerous clubs, Bac Ninh province has issued numerous incentive mechanisms and policies to support “Quan ho” villages and clubs, as well as artists and performers of this music genre.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh emphasised that activities introducing Vietnam tourism at ITB Berlin 2025 not only promote destinations in the Southeast Asian nation, but also create connections between cultures, enhance mutual understanding, and nurture international friendship.

The Cambodian journalist said he prefers citing the VNA because of its role as Vietnam’s national news agency, entrusted for decades with delivering official information on the Vietnamese Party, State, and Government’s policies, guidelines and laws during wartime or peacetime.
The VNA provides multimedia news in many languages, and its reports on Vietnam are widely used and have certain influence in the world, according to a Chinese journalist.
The official praised the VNA’s content quality, presentation methods, as well as timely and diverse coverage, particularly major political and diplomatic events between the two countries.
Students are covered by the health insurance fund for 100% of the cost of inpatient examinations and treatment at primary health facilities nationwide.
The official likened the VNA to Vietnam’s unofficial embassy, stressing that this is very important, as in its role, the agency can deliver information from all corners, engage in exchanges, and access diverse sources of information.
Ling, who is also a former chief representative of China's Xinhua News Agency in Hanoi, affirmed that the VNA has played a vital role in guiding public opinion and significantly contributed to Vietnam’s achievements in nearly 40 years of the “Doi moi” (renewal) process.
Farmers across Quang Ninh province are stepping up efforts to protect the environment, with the chapters of the provincial Farmers' Union adopting creative and practical initiatives that have raised awareness and responsibility among members.

Emulation movements launched across the Vietnam News Agency have spread to every unit and employee, creating momentum for all to contribute to the shared mission of building the VNA as a trusted strategic information centre of the Party and State.
Delegates affirmed their commitment to upholding the ideals of President Ho Chi Minh, drawing strength from his teachings to overcome difficulties, foster unity, and mobilise resources for national development.
As VNA marks its 80th anniversary, reflecting on these streets strengthens current generations’ pride and gratitude for those who sacrificed for the agency — honoured three times as Hero of the Armed Forces and Hero of Labour in the Doi Moi era for their monumental contributions and dedication to national liberation and revolutionary journalism.
Kyodo News President Toshimitsu Sawai emphasised that the VNA’s coverage is regarded as the most authoritative source on Vietnam. He highlighted its adaptability in an evolving media landscape, especially its application of AI and other state-of-the art technologies in the editorial work.
