Vingroup Innovation Foundation continues sponsoring science, technology projects
The Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF) has said that in 2024, it continues to sponsor science and technology programmes and projects to promote the application and contribute to changing the research environment in Vietnam, creating a launching pad for Vietnamese science and technology to reach the international level.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF) has saidthat in 2024, it continues to sponsor science and technology programmes and projectsto promote the application and contribute to changing the research environment inVietnam, creating a launching pad for Vietnamese science and technology toreach the international level.
Deputy Minister of Science and TechnologyTran Hong Thai said that the funding will help promote the development ofresearch groups at universities and research institutes, as well as preservingcultural and historical values, supporting the commercialisation of productsthrough research and implementation, and enhancing Vietnam's scientific andtechnological potential.
He expressed his hope that the foundationwill continue to sponsor and promote activities to support scientific andtechnological research, with focus on priority studies and national productsapproved by the Prime Minister.
The VinIF was founded in 2018 by Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate, with the overriding mission of supporting scientists and young talents fromuniversities and institutes to create world-class scientific, technological andinnovative researches in the field of science, technology, engineering,medicine, economics and education, in order to bring about positive andsustainable changes for Vietnam.
Since then, the foundation has funded 800billion VND (32.5 million USD). Notably, in 2023 alone, it sponsored newscience and technology projects; 300 master's and doctoral and 90 postdoctoral scholarships,eight projects and 17 cultural and historical events with a total amount of 160billion VND./.
Since its inception five years ago, the Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VINIF) has supported 2,500 scientists with a total funding of nearly 800 billion VND (34.7 million USD), contributing to the advancement of domestic scientific research.
The National Innovation Centre (NIC) in collaboration with the Japan Trade Promotion Agency (JETRO) and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam on August 29 held a ceremony to announce the programme “Inno Vietnam – Japan Fast Track Pitch 2023” (Vietnam – Japan Innovation: The Road to Success) in Hanoi.
Since 2022, more than 500 Vietnamese startups have engaged in Google’s Startup Academy, Google for Startups Accelerator, and Google Startup Masterclass. Nearly 100 of these firms received support to develop and improve their products, benefiting more than 300,000 customers and creating over 300 new jobs through successful fundraising and team expansion amidst Vietnam’s competitive economy.
Over the past three decades, Binh Duong has cemented its status as one of Vietnam’s most dynamic industrial hubs, building a robust foundation in manufacturing, exports, and investment. The province now has 30 operational industrial parks spanning over 13,000 hectares, with an occupancy rate exceeding 90%.
The diplomat emphasised that Vietnam places the highest priority on the development of science, technology, and innovation, viewing them as critical drivers for the country’s advancement in the new development era.
The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
More than an art showcase, the second “Technology with heart” contest seeks to inspire innovation and spotlight the humanistic values that technology can bring into daily life, expected to contribute to a sustainable digital future.
The average speed of the national mobile broadband network remained stable, with download speeds reaching 76.86 Mbps and upload speeds reaching 26.98 Mbps.

The Government will always accompany companies, including CMC, and request ministries, agencies, and Hanoi authorities to further support them by promptly removing any obstacles to their growth, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
