Vinh Phuc among top three localities in cyber information security in 2019

The northern province of Vinh Phuc is among three localities rated level A in cyber information security assessment for 2019 made by the Authority of Information Security (AIS), Ministry of Information and Communications.
Hanoi (VNA) – The northern province of Vinh Phuc is among three localities ratedlevel A in cyber information security assessment for 2019 made by the Authority of Information Security (AIS), Ministry ofInformation and Communications.

The ratings wereannounced recently, covering 63 provinces and centrally-run cities, and 26ministries, ministerial-level agencies and Governmental agencies (except  the ministries of public security,defence and information and communications).

Vinh Phuc, alongwith the central city of Da Nang and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, arerated level A, while the State Bank of Vietnam is the only agency to achievethe A level.

The goodperformance of Vinh Phuc is attributable to the provincial administration’sattention to investment in IT security and IT equipment.

All State managementunits from communal level upwards have been equipped with the LAN networks, andconnected to the internet via optical fibre cables.  The provincial Department of Information andCommunication has effectively carried out solutions to ensure security for the databaseand applications of the province. It has also organized regular training courseson information technology and cyber security for employees of State agenciesand district-level People’s Committees.

The departmenthas routinely conducted review of users’ accounts to detect weak passwords,provided quick assistance to other units in cases of cyber incidents, andtimely fixed security loopholes for servers of local agencies.

The AIS said that it rated the cyber information securitylevel based on five indexes namely the basic information security index based on assessment results from data ofagencies; information security index of the websites and information portals; malware infection index; information leakage index;and monitoring information sharing index./.
