VN, Laos, Cambodia boost security cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) – Security ministers of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia gathered ata friendship meeting in Hanoi on August 17 to promote cooperation among thethree countries’ security forces.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security To Lam welcomed Cambodia’shigh-ranking delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of HomeAffairs Sar Kheng, and the Lao delegation, headed by Minister of SecuritySomkeo Silavon, to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties and the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations.

He said that the Vietnamese public security force is proud of having Cambodianand Lao friends and colleagues who always give wholehearted and effective cooperationand assistance during the cause of safeguarding national security and socialorder and safety.

In the fight against transnational organised crimes, the three countries’security forces have effectively coordinated in busting many major drug andhuman trafficking rings and arresting wanted persons.

Amid the intensive international integration and more complicated activities ofhostile forces, reactionaries and transnational organised crimes, the close collaborationbetween the three countries’ security forces is extremely important to protectnational security and social order and safety in each country.

The forces should cooperate closely in rejecting allegations aimed atundermining the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos and betweenVietnam and Cambodia on mass media as well as combating terrorism,transnational crimes and other non-traditional crimes, Lam noted.

The Vietnamese official expressed his belief that the three countries’ securityforces will further their cooperation, not letting any hostile forces and crimeorganisations to harm security and order in each country and activelycontributing to their nations’ economic development and integration integration.

For their parts, Sar Kheng and Somkeo Silavon wished that the collaborationbetween the three ministries will continue to thrive and reap practical resultsin all areas, contributing to maintaining social order and safety as well asensuring national security in their countries.-VNA
