Myanmar Culture Minister Khin AungMyint has proposed that Vietnam and Myanmar exchange theatregroups and promote archaeological cooperation.
The visit minister made the proposal at a meeting with the Minister ofCulture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh in Hanoi on April 15.
Minister Myint said that his country also has caves like the ones inHa Long Bay where many of the country’s important relics were unearthed.
Myanmar hopes to assist Vietnam in archaeology and explore itsnational historical culture, said the minister, adding that he hopedVietnam will set up a team of archaeologists to work with Myanmar’sexperts.
Minister Anh highlighted Myanmar’s recent socio-culturalachievements, especially in development and preserving its culturalheritage, development.
Vietnam and Myanmar enjoy a number of transport advantages andshare many similarities in culture and history plus both peoples havetraded together for centuries, said the Vietnamese minister, expressinghis hope that the two countries will cooperate with each other inaviation, banking, post and telecommunications, but particularlyculture.
Cultural cooperation will be developed in the form of culturalexchanges to promote mutual understanding between both peoples, link upmuseums and cooperate in the performing arts and training throughbuilding up student exchange programmes, he said.
Vietnam will send a delegation of photographers and personnel fromthe Ministry’s Performing Art Department to Myanmar for acultural exchange and an art troupe will perform around the country, headded.
While in Vietnam from April 9-15, the Myanmar minister visited theCu Chi Tunnels and the Independence Palace in HCM City andpaid a floral tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum inHanoi./.
