Hanoi (VNA) - The VTVInternational Women’s Volleyball Cup will run from August 4-11 at Ha Tinh Gymnasiumin the central province of Ha Tinh.
The tournament features eight teams,including Altay of Kazakhstan, Yunnan of China, and the Democratic People’sRepublic of Korea (DPRK).
Vietnam’s national team are in Group A withAltay, Yunnan and Hokkaido University of Japan, while Vietnam U19 are in GroupB with DPRK, Sichuan of China and National Chinese Taipei University.
The teams will play under a round-robinformat to select the top four teams to progress to the semi-finals.
The cup is an annual event initiated by theVietnam Volleyball Federation and Vietnam Television in 2004. This year’s eventis sponsored by Vietnamese steel giant Hoa Sen Group.
The event is a warm-up for Vietnam inpreparation for the Asian Games in Indonesia next month.-VNA

The 2018 Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Championship, LienVietpostbank Cup, opened in the northern province of Bac Ninh on June 10 with the participation of 15 teams from the continent.
This year’s tournament has gathered over 300 coaches, athletes, and referees from 18 countries and territories, competing in 28 combat weight categories and eight performance categories. Vietnam’s team has 50 athletes, including six from Thai Nguyen province.
It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
