VUFO President pays courtesy call to leader of Cuban legislature

Hanoi (VNA) ♓– A delegation from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO)led by its Vice President Nguyen Ngoc Hung paid a courtesy call to President of the National Assembly of People's Powerof Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez in Hanoi on September 24.
Hernandez will represent leaders of the Cuban Party and State to attend a ceremony markingthe 50th anniversary of leader Fidel Castro’s trip to the liberatedzone in Southern Vietnam. Informing Hernandez about the results of theimplementation of the friendship and cooperation agreement for the 2020-2025period between VUFO and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Hungsaid despite difficulties caused by COVID-19 pandemic over the past threeyears, the two sides have actively held rallies, meetings and informationexchanges on the occasions of both countries' national holidays and important historical events,both in-person and online formats. VUFOalways takes the initiative and stays ready to cooperate with ICAP and the CubanEmbassy in Hanoi to hold solidarity and friendship activities, thus furtherfostering the close relations between the Parties, Governments, and people ofthe two countries. At the same time, it stands shoulder to shoulder with theCuban people in their just struggle for the removal of the US' blockade against Cuba, he said. Hernandez, for hispart, affirmed that cooperation activitiesbetween the two countries’ friendship organisations have contributed to furthertightening the special solidarity between their Parties, States and people. He said the Cuban legislature has been studying Vietnam’sexperience during its renewal process with a view to applying them in the process of socialdevelopment and the building of laws in Cuba in particular. Accordingto him, his Vietnam visit is another contribution to the friendshipbetween the two countries, Parties and States. He affirmed that the 50th anniversary of Castro’s visit to the liberated zone in South Vietnam is anoccasion to commemorate the historic moment that will live forever in thehearts of the people, marking the development of the special and rarerelationship between the two countries./.
Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha paid a courtesy call on President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández and held talks with First Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruíz in Havana on September 18, as part of his visit to the Caribbean nation and attendance at the Group of 77 plus China (G77+China) Summit.
The Vietnam- Cuba Friendship Association of Hanoi and the People’s Committee of Ba Dinh district on September 22 co-organised a seminar on the Vietnam-Cuba special solidarity, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro's historical visit to Vietnam (September 1973 - 2023).
It is very rare to find such special relations as the ties between the Parties, States, and people of Vietnam and Cuba, set up by Cuban national hero Jose Marti, President Ho Chi Minh, and President Fidel Castro and nurtured by generations of leaders of both countries.
The relations between Vietnam and Cuba are very special, far beyond all diplomatic and political levels, said Secretary General of the National Assembly (NA) of People’s Power and the Council of State of Cuba Homero Acosta Alvarez.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. The UN Secretary-General praised Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration in recent years, noting that the country has emerged as a model in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting international peace and security, and engaging in key UN processes.
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.
The Party and State of Vietnam always attach great importance to and give top priority to the development of Vietnam–China relations. Vietnam is ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel is closely coordinating with relevant local agencies to stay informed and provide the utmost support possible for Vietnamese nationals.
