Brussels (VNA) – Cooperationfields between Belgium’s Wallonie-Bruxelles region and Vietnam for the2019-2021 were the main focus of a seminar held by Wallonie-BruxellesInternational (WBI), an agency in charge of international cooperation, inBrussels on May 14.
During the seminar, informationabout Vietnam’s development situation was provided for nearly 50 delegates fromuniversities and enterprises in Belgium’s French-speaking region, and those whoare interested in bilateral relations.
The event was part of preparationsfor the 10th meeting of the Vietnam – Wallonie-Bruxelles JointCommittee and the Brussels French Community Commission slated for November inBelgium.
Vietnamese Ambassador to BelgiumVu Anh Quang gave participants an insight into Vietnam’s development withnumerous investment opportunities.
Speaking highly of achievementsin multifaceted cooperation between Vietnamese and Belgian regions andlocalities, Quang stressed that potential for bilateral collaboration remainshuge.
WBI Inspector General highlightedorientations for the 2019-2021 cooperation programme with the focus on post-graduateeducation and training, culture, legal affairs, environment, economic researchand the fourth industrial revolution.
At the seminar, several delegatesexpressed their wish that Vietnam would grant long-term visas to Belgianexperts and simplify its procedures.
Several Belgian partners want to cooperatewith Vietnam in higher education.
In 1993, Belgium’sFrench-speaking community signed the first cooperation agreement with Vietnamand set up its representative office in Hanoi on 1996. In 2002, the cooperationprogramme was expanded with the participation of Wallonie region and FrenchCommunity Committee of Brussels.-VNA
