Yen Bai (VNA) ✨– The Mong ethnic people’s Khen (pan-pipe), To day (wild peach blossoms) festivals and activities to welcome the New Year are scheduled to take place in Mu Cang Chai district, northern province of Yen Bai from December 27 to January 2, featuring vibrant activities to attract visitors nationwide.
Several activities will be held during the week-long event, including a tourism workshop, street parades, cultural showcases of Mong traditions, a pan-pine competition, a photo exhibition on wile peach blossoms, cloud hunting, and paragliding, among others.
The New Year festivities will feature a cultural programme titled "Xuan vung cao" (Spring in the highlands), traditional Mong spinning-top games, folk art performances, local craft displays, and booths showcasing unique products from Mu Cang Chai and its neighbouring districts.
These activities aim to strengthen unity among ethnic groups, particularly the Mong community, and promote Mu Cang Chai’s cultural and tourism potential.
The festival also seeks to preserve and celebrate ethnic heritage while engaging local businesses and communities in developing unique tourism products to attract visitors.
According to Vice Chairwoman of the Mu Cang Chai district People’s Committee Luong Thi Xuyen, the district has actively promoted the event through various media and social platforms. Local authorities have enhanced tourism site management, repaired access roads, highlighted picturesque wild peach blosssom flower areas, and ensured public safety and effective transportation services.
Located over 1,000 metres above sea level, Mu Cang Chai boasts a cool climate and stunning landscapes.
