Winners of Golden Globe Science and Technology Award 2023 announced

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committeeannounced the list of ten young scientists who win the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award 2023on September 28.
The winners were selected from 69 nominees from 38 organisations, universities,research institutes, domestic and foreign businesses, Vietnamese embassies, andyouth unions and Vietnamese student association abroad.
The annual award is presented in five areas of information technology, digital transformationand automation; medical – pharmaceutical technology; biological technology; environmental technology; and new material technology.
Dr Trinh Van Chien, a lecturer from the Hanoi University of Science andTechnology’s School of Information and Communications Technology, Dr Pham Huy Hieu,a lecturer from VinUniversity’s College of Engineering and Computer Science;and Dr Nguyen Trong Nghia, a lecturer from the University of Adelaide, SouthAustralia, won the award in information technology, digital transformation andautomation.
There are three winners in the medical – pharmaceutical technology area, namelyDr Ngo Quoc Duy, a doctor from the National Cancer Hospital; Dr Ha Thi ThanhHuong from the Vietnam National University-HCM City’s International University;and Dr Trinh Hoang Kim Tu from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, HCMCity.
Regarding environmental technology, Dr Le Dinh Anh, a lecturer from the VietnamNational University – Hanoi’s University of Engineering and Technology; and DrNgo Ngoc Hai from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
MSc Nguyen Ho Thuy Linh, a lecturer from the Vietnam National University – HCMCity; and Assoc. Prof. Dr Huynh Trong Phuoc, a lecturer from the Can ThoUniversity’s College of Engineering won the award in the new materialtechnology area.
Meanwhile, no winner is named in the biotechnology area.
Since 2003, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee has joinedhands with the Ministry of Science and Technology to organise the award with aview to honouring young Vietnamese scientists who are under 35 years oldand attain standout science-technology achievements.
The award also aims to encourage the study, research and application of sciencetechnology, as well as develop talents in the fields to serve the nation’sdevelopment./.
Dr. Ngo Manh Tien and his colleagues at the Institute of Physics under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology have successfully manufactured an intelligent humanoid robot IVASTBot, opening up research and robot application in communication.
The Vietnamese Students Association in the Republic of Korea (VSAK) on July 16 held its ninth annual conference of Vietnamese Young Scientists (ACVYS) 2023 at Sejong University in Seoul, during which new research achievements by young scientists were shared.
President Vo Van Thuong met in Hanoi on August 12 with 56 international and Vietnamese scientists attending the international scientific conference "Windows on the Universe" that recently took place in Quy Nhon city, the south-central province of Binh Dinh.
The website Research.com on September 1 announced its rankings of world scientists with excellent achievements in scientific publications in 2023, in which there are 14 Vietnamese.
