Work on the second phase of a project to bring water from Da River to Hanoi began on October 7 in Thach Hoa commune, Thach That district.
The 48-month phase has a total investment capital of 4.92 trillion VND (223 million USD), which will be sourced from bank loans and the own capital of the investor, the Vinaconex Clean Water JSC.
It includes building a 21-km pipeline along Thang Long Avenue at a cost of 1.05 trillion VND (47 million USD).
Once operational, it will add 80,000 cubic metres of clean water per day, raising the total capacity of the first stage to 300,000 cubic metres per day and thus helping ensure stable and continuous water supply when the first pipeline breaks or ruptures.
When the whole phase is completed, the total capacity of the Da River water supply system will be increased to 600,000 cubic metres per day.
The first Da River water pipeline was put into use in 1997 and has broken for 15 times since 2012. Tens of thousands of households suffered water shortages for days on each occasion.

Vinaconex has secured a loan from a commercial bank to fund the construction of a new water pipeline bringing water from Da River to supply to Hanoi residents.
