Workshop discusses nuclear research reactor safety

The Regional Advisory Safety Committee for Research Reactors in Asia and the Pacific (RASCAP) on November 25 held a workshop on the safety of nuclear research reactors, in Da Lat city, the central Highland Province of Lam Dong.
The Regional Advisory Safety Committee for Research Reactors in Asiaand the Pacific (RASCAP) on November 25 held a workshop on the safety ofnuclear research reactors, in Da Lat city, the central HighlandProvince of Lam Dong.

Representatives from RASCAP membercountries shared information, knowledge and experience in the field,with the ultimate goal of promoting nuclear energy use for peacefulpurpose as well as preventing nuclear proliferation.

This isthe first joint activity of the committee, which was established inMarch this year, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).Vietnam is serving as Chairman of the IAEA’s Board of Governors inthe 2013-2014 term.

RASCAP has 14 member countries in the Asia Pacific, including Vietnam.
 
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Nhi Dien, Deputy Director of theVietnam Atomic Energy Commission and Director of the Da Lat NuclearResearch Institute, underlined the significance of the workshop, sayingthat it helped the countries take the right measures to ensure safety ofnuclear research reactors.-VNA

🍨 PM calls for cooperation with Sweden in nuclear energy technology

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
