Can Tho (VNA) – A works🐟hop was held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on March 10 to share experience and boost connections in disaster management, drawing the participation of a crowd of experts, managers and local disabled people.
Co-hosted by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), the event aimed to enhance links in building livelihood models, devising ways to adapt to climate change, and improving the adaptive ability for people in the region, especially vulnerable groups.
Participants focused their discussion on the experience of vulnerable groups in managing risks caused by climate change and solutions to the issue. They also assessed disaster risks for the groups, and their adaptation to disaster risks.
Climate change is threatening many localities in the Mekong Delta, with unusually high temperatures, changeable rains and prolonged drought among other factors affecting locals’ daily activities, with the most vulnerable groups being low-income households, women, children and people with disabilities.-VNA
