Workshop talks social security for pandemic-hit vulnerable

𒅌– A workshop was held in Hanoi on October 21 to discussinternational experience in social security for the vulnerable affected by COVID-19pandemic. 

The event wasco-organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) andthe International WeLoveU Foundation.

Speaking at the event,head of the MoLISA’s Department of International Cooperation Nguyen Manh Cuongsaid though two COVID-19 outbreaks in March and August were under control,their impact on local lives, especially workers, the elderly, the poor andvulnerable, are not small.

The VietnameseGovernment issued Resolution No.42/NQ-CP on measures to support those hitby the pandemic and Decision No.15/QD-TTg on the implementation of supportpolicy for them, including the unprecedented social welfare package worth over62 trillion VND (2.69 million USD) benefiting about 20 million people.

Chairwoman of the foundation Zahng Gil Jah wished that both sides will make furtherdedication and contributions to a better life of humans.

🍸 Following theworkshop, the MoLISA and the foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the 2020-2023 period via avideo conference to reach poverty reduction and fair education goals, under which the twosides will improve housing environment and offer support to those withmeritorious service to the nation, the elderly and heroic Vietnamese mothers.

They will also offer livelihood and infrastructure support as well as enhanceeducation quality for disadvantaged and vulnerable families. The foundationwill also launch blood donation and environment protection campaigns.

As a non-governmentalorganisation approved for association with the United Nations, WeLoveU Foundationpartners with the UN and countries to fulfill the UN Sustainable Development Goalsand social goals of the world.

ꦰ It has been working invarious areas such as emergency relief, blood donation, clean water andsanitation, health and well-being./.
