World Cup 3-Cushion 2017 opens in HCM City

The 3-Cushion Carom Billiards World Cup 2017 kicked off on May 26 in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of more than 100 players from 16 countries and territories.

HCM City (VNA) – The 3-Cushion CaromBilliards World Cup 2017 kicked off on May 26 in Ho Chi Minh City with the participationof more than 100 players from 16 countries and territories.

Vietnam has 26 players attending the event, including2017 Asian defending champion Nguyen Quoc Nguyen (world No 12), Tran QuyetChien, (world No 15), Ma Minh Cam (world No 18), 2017 Asian silver medallistDuong Anh Vu (world No 29), and Ngo Dinh Nai (world No 36).

They will compete with world leading playerssuch as Jaspers Dick of the Netherlands, Sanchez Daniel of Spain, CaudronFrédéric of Belgium, Blomdahl Torbjorn of Sweden and Polychronopoulos Nikos ofGreece.

Previously, players vied in the qualifying roundwhich took place from May 22-25 for slots in the final round. Among 32finalists, six are Vietnamese.

This year’ event has total prize money of 52,000EUR (1.3 billion VND).

The event, held by the municipal Departmentof Culture, Sports and Tourism, UMB, the Asian Carom Billiards Confederationand the National Sports Administration, is scheduled to conclude on May 28. -VNA

𒁃 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee
