Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has expressed wish that his countryand Vietnam will promote their sound politic relations and beef upbilateral economic and trade ties.
President Robert Mugabe madethe remarks at a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Le Huy Hoang whopresented his credentials on July 31.
He added that Zimbabwehopes ministries and economic sectors from both nations will discussconcrete measures to boost trade and implement tripartite cooperationprogrammes in health care and agriculture which Vietnam haseffectively carried out in some African countries.
The presidentwas also interested in Vietnam ’s active foreign policy, expressingsupport to the country’s stance on strengthening its internationalintegration and settling all issues through peaceful measures inconformity with international law and the United Nation Charter.
Briefinghis host on Vietnam ’s socio-economic development and externalrelations as well as the East Sea issue, Ambassador Hoang affirmedVietnam ’s determination to foster the friendship and all-roundcooperation with Zimbabwe .
The two sides also discussedmeasures to further bolster partnership between the two countries,especially in trade, economics, health care and agriculture.
AmbassadorHoang called on Zimbabwe to recognise Vietnam ’s market economystatus, and support Vietnam ’s candidacy for the UNESCO ExecutiveBoard, the UN Economic and Social Council, and the UN Security Council.
Earlier,Ambassador Hoang also had a meeting with Zimbabwe ’s ForeignMinister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, during which they talked of ways tostrengthen diplomatic and politic ties between the two countries.
Mumbengegwisaid he hopes the two sides will further their close coordination atregional and international forums, including the Non-Alignment Movementand the United Nations.
He pledged to work with otherrelevant agencies to consider Vietnam ’s proposals, so that Zimbabwecould soon announce the acknowledgement of Vietnam ’s market economystatus. He also expressed support for Vietnam ’s running for seats inimportant international organisations in the coming time.
On theoccasion, Ambassador Hoang had a meeting with local enterprises tointroduce Vietnam ’s products, including rice and tra fish.-VNA
