Hanoi (VNA)ꦚ - The AFF Suzuki Cup Trophy Tour arrived in Hanoi onNovember 2 with just a week to go before the region’s premier footballtournament kicks off.

The trophy was on display at AEONMall Long Bien from 5pm to 8pm on November 2, and Vietnam’s leading playerswere in attendance to take photos with fans and sign autographs. There were performances by afootball freestyle team and an acoustic band as well as displays by tournamentsponsors Grand Sport, Pinaco and Acebook. The first matches of the AFF SuzukiCup kick off on November 8, but the trophy has been touring the region ahead ofthe tournament. The trophy has already made stops inCambodia, Myanmar, Manila and Bangkok and it will head to Jakarta on November 3. Vietnam, winners of the AFF SuzukiCup in 2008, are riding a wave after good performances at both the senior andunder-23 level over the past year and will be among the favourites in thisyear’s tournament. The senior team qualified for theAFC Asian Cup 2019 with an unbeaten record in Group C and their youngercounterparts sparked outpourings of joy in the country by reaching the final ofthe AFC U23 Championship in China at the start of the year.-VNA
