- As Vietnam ushers in a new spring, the nation is filled with a strong sense of confidence, ambition, and resolve. The year 2025 stands as a key landmark in the journey to fulfil the 2021–2025 development plan, setting the stage for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. More importantly, it marks the beginning of a transformational leap into a new era of growth, wealth, and prosperity for the country. Even as the country celebrates the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet), thousands of engineers, workers, and labourers remain dedicated to national projects, from Long Thanh International Airport and Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, to the nationwide 500-day campaign aiming to complete 3,000 kilometers of expressways. - Since Vietnam and Bulgaria established their diplomatic relations on February 8, 1950, the two countries have enjoyed growing traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation across various sectors.

- Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son has signed Decision No. 245/QD-TTg approving a master plan on the development and application of atomic energy to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Its overall goal by 2030 is to perfect the legal system, policies, and the state management agency on atomic energy in accordance with international practices. Read full story

- As the threat of a global trade war looms, insiders held that Vietnam needs to take proactive steps to develop tailored responses that will insulate its production, business, and export activities from the effects of market volatility.

In 2024, the total value of Vietnam’s foreign trade approximated 800 billion USD, with exports hitting 405 billion USD. Shipments to the US alone accounted for almost 119 billion USD, marking a 23.3% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Read full story

- Vietnam's rice exports hit a record 9.18 million tonnes in 2024, generating 5.75 billion USD, up 12.9% in volume and 23% in value compared to 2023. To maintain this momentum amid declining prices and growing competition, businesses are suggested to enhance product quality and expand export markets.

According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), global rice production for the 2024-25 season is projected to reach 533.8 million tonnes, up 11.6 million tonnes from the previous season. Total supply is expected to increase by 10.6 million tonnes to 713.1 million tonnes, while global rice trade is forecast to hit a record 57.2 million tonnes due to rising exports from multiple countries. - Gold prices surged significantly, exceeding the threshold of 90 million VND (3,550 USD) per tael at the opening session of the God of Wealth Day on February 7 (the 10th day of the first lunar month).

At 9:10 am, the Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed its buying price of SJC-branded gold bars at 86.8 million VND per tael and the selling price at 90.3 million VND per tael, down 400,000 VND and 700,000 VND per tael, respectively, compared to the end of February 6. Read full story

- The World Health Organisation (WHO) has assessed the risk of a measles outbreak in Vietnam as very high and recommended large-scale vaccination campaigns in provinces and cities with high and very high risk, as well as in areas currently experiencing measles case clusters.
